PE 10 assessment

This year, has been very different from the rest. There were more laughs, great experiences, and fun! Maybe because this year we were more self directed and we had more of a choice in what we wanted to do. Throughout the semester, I have had great punctuality and I have never been late to class. I have been very willing to try something new for example I tried cone soccer rather than something than I usually do. 

My fitness has improved, because of the dance that I did outside of school. I have built up stamina this year, because now I can run with ease. The most important thing I've learned to do is keeping a constant pace while running. I contribute to the class dynamic by helping out with the equipment for example putting it away or bringing it in. I also contribute by bringing a positive attitude and motivating my classmates.

 Being physically educated is very important to me since it is a part of my lifestyle now. I love it, and I will miss pe very much! I especially love having pe in the mornings. It kept me awake throughout the whole day. Physically educated to me, means a happy life with a great balance of eating healthy and being active. I have really enjoyed fitness days since they involved the most activity and were very fun. I have learned a variety of ways to stay active in or outside of school. I plan on doing many activities in the community with my friends in the summer, like the community run, or playing soccer at gold stone park. I found it incredible that we did activities that didn't require a gym, or high end equipment. So, it makes it easier for me to or my friends to stay fit outside of school.

 The tools that I have picked up from this course will stay with me for a lifetime. To me the lesson of maintaining a healthy lifestyle is very significant. I think my work habit would be a G and my letter grade would be an A. From the start of the semester and now, I have improved immensely. I am very excited to try out what I've learned and continue this fitness aspect to my life even when pe is over. My efforts and hard work in this course have made me very proud.This year has been absolutely amazing!

The Amazing Race

Well this amazing race was absolutely amazing! I had so much fun, I liked that it was self directed. I would really like to do this one more time before school ends. This scavenger hunt was a social yet fast race based activity. My team and I managed to find eight items out of the ten, we returned earlier than all of the other teams. Since, we thought everybody would have returned by 9am. We did not find the SD36 sign and gym however with the extra time we had, I believe we could've found it.  Next time, if we get the opportunity to this activity, I want to challenge myself to get all ten items. This was a truly exciting race, I enjoyed it a lot.

Choices, and Fitness

Today was choice between volleyball, soccer, and floor hockey. My friends and I were not interested in those activities since they have become very repetitive and we wanted to do something new. So we decided to do yoga in the weight room. We followed the Bob Harper's yoga video. It was a great workout, very intense and difficult. It was sort of like insanity, I enjoyed it a lot. I think by doing yoga, my muscles loosened up. I would say it was sort of like a fitness activity. Yesterday was fitness, we did the beep test I did fairly well. I think I reached my maximum best. I have improved a lot throughout the semester from 6.5 to 7.5's. I've shown leadership skills by helping out and putting the equipment away. I feel like towards the end of the semester, I've made some new friends, which is great! Overall, I think these couple of months in PE have been a lot of fun and I've worked very hard, to my full potential.

Fitness Fridays!

Fitness on Friday, was extremely difficult since it was a very long sprint that each person had to do. The pond relay, was very different but I was easily tired because it was not really a paced activity. It was much more of a give all your best right away activity however if one gives their best, soon their energy will die which happened to most people at the end of their sprint.I would personally would have liked to do something else, more exciting like those stations we did once, on the upper field. Overall I must say I liked the new change! It was different.

Indoors and Outdoors!

Well it has been very warm from the start of May! The most fun I have had  in a while was yesterday we played cone handball, Ive never played it before but it was really exhausting and simply amazing! Yesterday in the small gym, everyone was having a great time, and there was so much positive energy everywhere since everybody tried their best! Today we were outdoors, we had an option of capture the flag or cone soccer. I chose cone soccer, it was harder than handball because there were less teams, more balls (I think even up to 4 or 5) and we had more space outside. My team and I had lots of sportsmanship, played fairly, and we were a great team. I was very happy and proud  when I knocked the cones done several times. Towards the end, I got tired and wasn't able to aim as well. Overall my team and I had a great time !

Summer weather !

Day by day, we are trying out different activities because the sun is out more. I really enjoy being outdoors! Lacrosse, and Capture the flag was exciting. Last year I really loved playing capture the flag in the forest however because of the owl habitat we are not able to this year. I wish we could find a place like that to play capture the flag in, its really fun. I found this weeks fitness harder than the usual, the relays were interesting. I realized that I need to sprint more, I have become slower. Today, Running up city hall was difficult since it was uphill and I haven't done the hill run since last year ! P.E is going too fast! its almost summer. The good thing is ,it is sunny which enables us to do more activities outdoors. I will continue to try my best and  I anticipate to have a great rest of the semester!

Midways through PE

This weeks highlight was doing the community run, it was very fun. I enjoyed the new route instead of the previous one. I think that this week went by very fast. For the beep test I maintained and got around the same score, I enjoyed doing the partner activity instead of the usual (t-test, sit & reach,etc.)I would really love to improve in the beep test, maybe by eating a good breakfast, so that I have enough energy to run in the morning. However overall, I think I've done fairly well since I tried my hardest.

The Unique Fitness Expierence

This past week, I found the fitness activity on Friday to be very different and unique. I thought it was really fun because there were different aspects to it for instance running two laps with your team , running a lap with your team with the weight, and then moving the tire as quickly as possible. Teamwork and patience was necessary since not every one was able to pick up the pace that others were capable of.
Overall, I personally loved the activity, it reminded me of sports day in elementary school. I would really love to do it once again and add more activities to it like tug of war. Over this past week I believe that, I have worked very hard on the fitness days and non fitness days in the small gym!

Term 1 Report Card

From the start of the semester, I know I have improved and my fitness has gotten better. I have made a lot of progress and I have learned a variety of activities for being in good shape. I think my work habit should be a G, since I work very hard during fitness days and non-fitness days as well. I have improved on the beep test for example on the very first beep test I had around 6.5 and the second one I had around 7.4, which I am very proud of. One very important important thing I've learned is stretching before or after an activity which reduces soreness. When I encourage my peers I think it increases the positivity in the class . I personally think that PE is very fun this year and I will continue to stay active inside and outside of school. For my effort and participation I think I would deserve an A. I will continue to try my hardest and I will keep on helping in class for example with the equipment. I love the fact that blogging is like a fitness journal that keeps track of what your doing. It is very easy to see where one is and how one has improved from using blogs.My blog posts are evidence of my improvement and you can see that I think PE is important because I regularly post of my activities. My goal for the end of this semester is to maintain my fitness and improve as much as I can.

My Return to PE

After Springbreak, everyone got back into their old routine. On Tuesday we did the pond run and I tried my best and it was very successful. I was huffing and puffing. Most importantly I think my fitness level didn't go down from the break. On Wednesday I played volleyball and I personally didn't find it fun since there wasn't many people playing. There were four teams of three. On Thursday, I played handball. Surprisingly I was very tired and exhausted at the end of the game. It was very fun and exhausting. My face was red and I worked very hard. On Friday we did the fitness circuit, I think it was very successful since I ran through most of it. I think that most of the other students were very happy and trying their best also. Overall this week was very fun and I had no regrets, I tried my best!

The Beep test and other fitness testings

The last day before spring break, we did the beep test. I think my fitness results were successful since I reached my goal.My goal was to improve from the previous testing. I got up to 7.3 on the beep test which was better then my 6.5 last time. For the body bridge I had a minute and 15 seconds which is better than my 45 seconds last time. I think I didnt really try my best last time during the body bridge. For the jump test my distance was around 30m which is around the same as last time. I think it is good that I maintained the distance however I would like to improve, by getting higher. For the fexibility test I was at a 4, very close to 5 just like last time. The one thing I need to work on is my push ups but all in all I know I  have improved and maintained most of the testings. I was very proud of my beep test score, I am aiming somewhere around 8 or 9 next time ! My spring break has been very fun ! and with the sunny weather, I have been very active. I cannot wait to see what we will be doing on Tuesday! A Fitness Day!

Dance Week

In my opinion I have enjoyed all the various of types of dance this week, zumba, hip-hop, line dancing and bhangra. I went outside my comfurt zone and tried my best. At the end of class, I realized that I had a ot of fun. I think dance is a good change to Active learning. The most important part I find necessary in Active learning is a good attitude and motivation!I think the ability is built with practice.
Tommorow is fitness! (The Beep test) I would like to improve and see more progress. I am confident and I feel that there will be improvement. I am very motivated and I actually cannot wait to beat my previous score of ~6.5. I think the extended beep test helped me to think of going outside the limit. I will try very hard ! and I hope during the Spring break, I will be very productive with my fitness!

Its that time of week again! :)

On a usual Friday afternoon, I would just want to watch a movie however today I would love to go play basketball or soccer outside. The weather is beautiful and I love the sun! Its interesting how the weather reflects on ones mood.

I really appreciate the privilege of Active learning and reflecting upon what we have done. I look forward to writing in my blog each week, it is more than a blog. Its evidence and progress for my  fitness. I think a blog is very effective since in French it helped me with my compositions and now it is helping me with my fitness records. This week, I know I haven't put as much effort as usual since I wasn't feeling well. Mr. Davis mentioned of making no regrets in the beginning of the semester. I really wished I could go to my full potential this week but sometimes everything isn't perfect. Putting the most effort as possible and trying your best leads to the best results. It feels good, knowing that your maximum  goal has been reached. I have reach my maximum goals a couple times during the last 4 weeks. I found the warm up before the community run, very interesting.It was something I haven't done before, which I liked. I need to plan activities to do during the spring break, I want to maintain being fit. Perhaps, I will do yoga, go for runs, play sports with my brother, friends or cousins, Oh! and my favorite, jumping on the trampoline.I have dance today and I would like to go to my full potential. Active Learning this year, has changed my thoughts on fitness and exercise. I understand the value and I know that it is a privilege to get a free workout at school. I think grade eights and nines should also blog about their experiences, it helps to see where ones progress is. I love positive energy, and I think many people are progressing positivity in class! I cannot wait for the dance next week. I think the diverse dances will be interesting, I want to do zumba, bhangra and hip-hop ! It will be fun!

Work Habits

I think I have made a lot of progress from the start of the semester. This is evident through many of my blog posts. I have contributed a positive attitude to the class social dynamic. I try my best to be motivated and put  a lot of effort into the activity that I am doing. I am always prepared for class, and I also show leadership for instance,I help bring/put away the equipment. I have maintained my extra curricular activity, dance outside of school also. I like that Active Learning is more about learning from mistakes rather than skills since I have improved by learning. I do not like the fact that sometimes there is not as much energy that is needed during class. There should be ways to prevent the loss of energy. Maybe more positive energy and full participation will be the solution? My personal goal and plan for continued growth is to maintain what I am doing now until the end of June and to stay fit, until PE10 is over as well. I think for my work habits I would be a G, since I participate with lots of effort and I care about my physical fitness.

Motivation

The Insanity workout was an accelerated exercise that required lots and lots of energy and effort. Insanity was a new fitness activity for me. In the beginning, I was unclear of what Insanity was. When we started, it seemed fine. Although,when we started the core exercises, the exercises got very difficult. After the talk and motivation given to us by our teachers everyone started to do better. I think self motivation starts from motivation from others. Support given to you by another person makes one more confident. Which enables the person to be self motivated. During the second half, I was very self motivated. At the end of the exercise,  I was sweating from head to toe.I felt fresh all day because of the Insanity workout. Next time I would like to work harder and be more self motivated. I really enjoyed the Intensity exercise,  I would love to do again!

Reflection Time

I find PE really fun this year, maybe because of the different activities we have been doing. It is more then PE, its a community where we make mistakes and learn. I have been sore after the fitness days, I think my body is adapting to daily exercise. I think I have been improving and progressing since each day I try a little harder. The hill run, was not only exhausting but really energizing. I was proud of what I could do. Using the 4 sided ball helped my coordination, which I needed since I am very klutzy. From all the games we played in the small gym, I really enjoyed the handball game because the variation we played was fast pace and engaging. 
The second fitness day we did a 40 minute activity involving a partner and going on for 30 sec and resting for 30 sec, I thought it was easy in the start however afterwards, I was out of breath. Each week I feel a bit more stronger and confident, which I am proud of. I think in the end of June, I will be very fit and have learned a variety of different skills. I cant wait for the summer weather!!

This Week's Reflection

The week of Feb.12 to Feb.15- Although this was a short week, I think I`ve achieved a lot so far I loved doing a variety of different physical exercises and I really would like to try the fitness activity ``Insanity``since I have never done it before, and it sounds fun! I tried my best in all the activities and will continue to do so. I have dance class in a few hours and I like the fact that I am maintaining my school physical activities and outside of school activities. I found this week to be really amazing!

Feb.15- Like the pond, my reflection is very clear. The pond run today was very tiring, and I am sort of sore. In the start, I went very fast but soon I was exhausted. I need to work on finding a proper pace. However I did, find a slower pace in the ending. I want to maintain a pace that is not too fast or too slow for improving my running. Overall, I have worked very hard and put a lot of effort into the pond run today. I was truly proud of what I have done.




Feb.14- Yoga! Well, when I thought of doing yoga, I thought it would be very relaxing and simple. However I was wrong, it was more like intense yoga. The yoga that I did Thursday, required so much energy! I could feel my body loosening up and becoming less tight. Doing the downward dog, plank, and push ups again, and again have improved my upper body strength.. I have never done yoga like this, but I would love to do it again.
Feb.13- As a class, we played tails, which I liked since we got warmed up! After that I played volleyball  it was actually fun. I enjoyed the fact that my team members gave me feedback on what I should do to improve. I think I need to practice my coordination so that I can hit the volley ball better. I liked encouraging my peers and clapping when they tried their best. I helped out by putting and bringing out the volleyball equipment. All in all, when we played volleyball it was a very positive atmosphere.

Feb.12- After the 3 day long weekend, it was evident that most of the PE students were tired. When we started doing the variety of stations for fitness, there was more energy in the gym. I think the number of people per station needed to be split more evenly since at some stations, it was getting too crowded  I think I used my time efficiently and wisely because I worked hard on most of the stations. My favorite part was running back and fourth in the small gym. For me, the stations-was a new fitness experience I am more use to doing the regular beep test and 25 minute run. Although I think change is a good thing.

The Wild Weight room

The first day in the weight room was up to you, and what you wanted to do. I tried a variety of different exercises and machines. The second day was more structured, since we were encouraged to use the  muscle of the day. I think since we had a class talk about the weight room, my peers and I were more productive the second day. I found the concept of  flexible day 1, and structured day2 very neat because I  learned what I should be doing and what I was doing. I honestly think this year pe is more meaningful since i have to think back on what I did and reflect while I am writing my blog. The weight room reminded me of the wild, since it was too big to discover.There were many activities in the weight room that I didn't get the opportunity to doing however I will anticipate to trying those out next time we have the weight room facility! I wonder what facility we are in this week.

The Vigorous Circuit

I personally think that I've done better from Friday's fitness since when I finished I was out of breath, red and sweaty. I enjoy the fact that fitness is not an individual activity since without friends or peer support to encourage you, its difficult to try your very best! I am going to focus on encouraging my peers to work harder because a few words go along way.
 I think my fitness journey so far, is going great. I liked having "choice" yesterday because I felt in control of my fitness and I also enjoyed choosing what I would like to do, based on who I am. I hope that the weight room tomorrow and Thursday are going to improve my muscular strength( the machines), stability and balance (bosu balls).I think the first few days have went very well and I am excited for more!

The Start to My Fitness Journey

I surprisingly enjoyed the beep test today, it was a wonderful exercise to see where I am on my journey to fitness. On the beep test I received around 6.5, I know I can improve that with lots of hard work. The fitness testings, made me feel so awake and I am starting to think that having PE right in the morning is actually a good thing! I enjoyed the first day so far!


 I hope that the rest of my semester is successful and a great learning experience. My goals are to keep a positive attitude, maintain physical activities inside and outside of school, become a leader to younger students (grade eights/nines), and try my very best in PE. I hope this semester turns out to be very interesting!
